Best Plug-in Hybrid Estate Cars

A hybrid car can offer drivers significantly better fuel economy and lower tailpipe emissions than your typical petrol or diesel vehicles, while also eliminating the range anxiety or charging issues associated with fully electric cars. 

Hybrids work especially well for commuters with a round trip under 50 miles, as you can use electric-only power for your entire commute, not touch a drop of petrol, and charge while at home or at work.

The Passat is well known for its spaciousness, and the hybrid is no different, with 510 litres of boot capacity with the seats up and an unbelievable 1,920 litres with them down – perfect for the whole family’s luggage, all your work kit or even unexpected Ikea runs.

The Passat also takes comfort and ease of use seriously - the cockpit allows you to customise your displays, putting what you value most in your eyeline, and use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto if you prefer. 

The Passat also has the option for features such as ergoActive massaging seats and a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, to add extra light and space to the interior. 

BMW 330e Touring

The BMW 330e Touring blends BMW’s signature driving feel with plug-in efficiency, pairing a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 19.5kWh battery and delivering an electric-only range of up to 59 miles.

A wide boot opening and flat floor make using the entire 410 litres of boot capacity a breeze, and with the option to fold the rear seats, you can increase that size to 1,420-litres, more than enough for massive supermarket runs and any equipment you might need for work.

Peugeot 308 SW

The Peugeot 308 SW PHEV is a sleek, stylish and practical estate, with a 1.6-litre petrol engine and 17.2kWh battery giving you an electric-only range of 53 miles. 

Boot space comes in at 548 litres with the seats up, expanding to 1,574 litres with them folded down. With a square load shape and a versatile 40/20/40 split on the rear seats, the 308 offers drivers an attractive, practical car with lots of daily utility.
